One of the biggest requests I get relates to the supplements and foods I take for my wellbeing. How we choose to take care of our body internally affects the condition of our skin, hair and nails as well as reflecting our mood. It is not only about the products we choose to put on our faces. It is also inside out beauty.

Your approach to wellbeing and the supplements you choose to take requires a targeted approach. It depends on your lifestyle, what your body needs and the results you want to achieve. The below mentioned products are what works for me. I am not a qualified physician or nutritionist. Please always check with your doctor before introducing any new supplements into your routine.

The way that I build my supplements routine starts with a blood test. I get these done at my doctor to see what my personal deficiencies are and what my body needs. This is what I recommend you do first. It’s not about following someone else’s routine.

Gut Health

Since I was young, I’ve been dealing with various gut issues. Currently, I’m taking Symprove Live & Active Bacteria. It helps promote a healthy environment in your gut. I take a shot of the original formula every morning. I get less bloating and cramping with this. Note: this isn’t a probiotic, it has live bacteria so you need to keep it in the fridge.

My granny always used to give me a teaspoon of cider vinegar with water as a child. I know it’s a trendy morning ritual now but it’s something I grew up with and it actually does help with my gut issues. I love the taste – it reminds me of my granny and my childhood.

Having a good amount of omegas in your diet is something I truly believe in. Instead of taking it as a tablet I incorporate it into my food. I do this through adding a variety of oils such as olive oil and flax oil to dress my salads, on fish etc.

My Supplements Routine

Supplements are a tricky area to navigate. It’s not a heavily regulated space. What’s often missing is the understanding of how much of a supplement can actually be absorbed by the body from a single dose. You need to ensure the supplements you choose are bioavailable to the body (i.e they can be absorbed).  I tend to mix up my supplements finishing a course and then switching it up with something else.

Currently, I love the Marie Reynolds Vegan C Capsules and Repair+ Amino Acid Powder*. It helps repair the lining of the gut. I also like Wild Nutrition, another bioavailable supplement range, that your body can absorb.

One thing that has made a huge difference to my wellbeing is bone broth. Since December last year, I’ve been drinking a cup of bone broth a day. I take the Spring Blonde Chicken Bone Broth (not suitable for vegetarians). It is a natural organic source of collagen that has really helped improve my hair and nails. I’ve been struggling with sleep lately so I’ve been taking Bodyism Pure Serenity* before bed. It has a chocolatey flavour so it’s like having a soothing hot chocolate before bed and I do think it has been helping.
