My skincare routine is the grounding ritual that brings me joy and a moment to unwind. However, over the last few months, I’ve found myself extending this to my body care routine too. It’s important to look after the skin on your body, not just your face. And whilst I don’t stick to a strict daily routine, I wanted to share my current body care picks. From my in-shower regulars to hydrating favourites – this is my body care edit.

Dry Body Brushing
I’m rebuilding my habit of dry brushing before a shower. It really helps reduce water retention and assists your body in its natural drainage flows. If puffiness and fluid retention is something you struggle with, I’d recommend dry brushing. I tend to follow long upward brush strokes – from legs to stomach. The Aromatherapy Associates Dry Brush* is my go-to.
I’ve never been a bath person. I always choose a shower and a lukewarm one at that. Bathing in hot water can really dry out the skin and sometimes cause further irritation. Even in the winter I’ll opt for a cooler shower – it also feels more refreshing.
I adore a good shower oil, especially when my skin is feeling dry. The Glossier Body Hero* and L’occitane Almond Shower Oil* are two of my favourites. These classics both wash off clean but leave skin feeling nourished and conditioned. Whenever I’m in need of a pick me up, I’ll opt for something more luxe in scent. Diptyque’s Eau de Rose Shower Foam* is beautiful – it just melts on your body and smells like a fresh bouquet of roses (which are my favourite flower).
I adore a good body exfoliant. I’ve been trying to keep up with this treatment 4-5 times a week usually with a sugar or salt scrub in oil to add nourishment to the skin. I love a formulation that has good, non-harsh scrubbing action and doesn’t leave behind any residue on the skin. One of my favourite scrubs is the Elemis Samphire Body Scrub*. A salt scrub with marine extracts that’s gentle enough to use often and leaves skin feeling so smooth and conditioned afterwards.
Whilst the Amanda Harrington Glycolic Body Scrub* is designed to be used pre-tan it makes for a brilliant smoothing body scrub (tan or not). It contains biodegradable castor beads alongside fruit acids for both physical and chemical exfoliation. For more of my favourite body exfoliators check out this edit.
Taking the time to moisturiser the skin on our bodies has often been an afterthought – left for the odd moment when we have the time. I’ve been making an effort to indulge in full body hydration which not only makes me skin feel healthier but adds a mood-boosting element. I either reach for a separate cream/oil or mix two together if my skin needs the extra nourishment. I always apply to damp skin to lock in that moisture. My current favourite body hydrators are:
Valmont Body 24hour* – I absolutely love the Valmont body range. In particular is the Body 24Hour – a beautifully lightweight creamy, velvet texture that absorbs quickly into the skin. Despite its light texture, it really nourishes the skin with the added benefits of a blend of actives. Valmont really does offer skincare grade formulations for the body.
Augustinus Bader Body Cream* – The ultimate indulgence. It is like using a luxury face cream for your body. It contains the same patented TFC8 compound to aid cellular renewal that’s in the facial skincare. This is definitely a rich skin smoothing treat!
Sisley White Ginger Contouring Leg Oil* – A great pick for tired legs that need some TLC – especially during the summer months. This silky oil softens and smoothes the skin whilst offering a soothing and reviving factor.
La Mer The Renewal Body Oil Balm* – I love a good hybrid texture. They’ve transformed their Renewal Oil into a balm format that you can really massage it in to nourish the skin. I adore the magical results I get from this – it leaves skin feeling satin smooth and radiant.
One Ocean Bioactive Body Sculpting Marine Cream* – A new sustainable beauty brand launch that I’ve been enjoying. I do love a good biotech brand and One Ocean balance biotechnology and marine ingredients to create innovative skincare. This body cream is amazingly light in texture but ultra nourishing with conditioning ingredients that help support the skin’s structure.
