The Art of Good Hand Care

hand care tips

The self care ritual of a good hand care routine is often under appreciated. The art of good hand care stems from beautiful hand creams (that smell amazing) to nail prep tools and a fresh manicure. With the constant hand washing and use of hand sanitiser, this is a beauty ritual not to be ignored.

Hand Care Essentials

I love a good scrub as the ultimate hand care prep. Diptyque’s Exfoliating Hand Wash* is a daily favourite but if I’m opting for a dedicated hand care routine, I’ll reach for something like Byredo’s Hand Scrub*. It’s an oil-based salt exfoliator with a beautiful musky rose and sophisticated scent. Your hands feel so smooth and brand new afterwards.

Leaving it to the pros – DryBy London is my go-to for a fresh manicure. I love natural nails that look chic and polished. The BioSculpture Gel Polish in shade Rose is one of my go-tos. However, some of my favourite tools for at-home nail maintenance are from Navy Pro Tools (they also do a beautiful Cuticle Balm). The new Jones Road Oil Stick is also great for this and works well on-the-go. And then there’s Margaret Dabb’s newest offering  – the Repairing Nail & Cuticle Serum*.

When it comes to hand cream, I am always reaching for ones with luxurious, nourishing textures that don’t feel sticky and smell beautiful. I usually have a handful on rotation. Both the Dior Prestige La Creme Mains de Rose* and By Terry Baume de Rose Hand Cream* are so nourishing and feel like silk on the skin without leaving any residue.

For a more repairing hand treatment for hands in need of extra TLC, I love the Augustinus Bader The Hand Treatment* which contains their signature patented TFC8 and delivers hydration and a protective layer. Natura Bisse Diamond Extreme Hand Cream* boosts collagen and helps to minimise pigmentation. Ameliorate’s Intensive Hand Treatment* is a 2in1 offering exfoliation to renew and reveal softer, smoother skin. Check out this edit for more of my hand cream favourites.
