We really do underestimate the importance of hydration and how healthy and beautiful it makes our skin look and feel. A skin barrier that functions well will regulate the hydration levels in the skin. Hydrated skin reflects light better bringing that glow and giving plumpness to your skin. If you have oily or sensitive skin you may need to tailor your routine with fewer products, lighter formulations or different ingredients to me but hydration still needs to be key!

Given how much time we’re spending indoors right now, I’ve had many people flag dry/dehydrated skin as a concern. My skin is always on the dry side so it will be no surprise that I continue to try new products and build a team of hydration heroes. For further hydrating favourites read this Sunday Facial or my top squalane products if you’re looking for a good skin softener.

Sisley is a beautiful brand that delivers on hydration and plump skin through their rich creamy masks. The Black Rose Mask* is one of my greatest products of all time but I also love the Velvet Sleep Mask*. It creates this smoothing cushion of protection and repair for the skin.

I love a good mist for an additional light layer of hydration. There’s something soothing and calming about that misting step. I like the Balance Me Hyaluronic Plumping Mist*. Its blend of hyaluronic acid and glycerin gives that layer of hydration almost like an essence would do. It works well with blemish-prone skin too which can get dehydrated especially if you’re using quite strong treatment products.

You know I love my masks and the Kiehls Avocado Mask* is a fun nourishing one to have on the shelf. What I love about this mask is that it contains 3 important elements for a hydration hero. Firstly, glycerin a humectant which draws water to the skin, then squalane an emollient to soften and finally shea butter an occlusive to help the skin barrier strengthen itself.

I adore the Augustinus Bader The Rich Cream*. It is the ideal cure-all for dryness or tired-looking skin. Your face remains supple and soft and you‘ll notice visible improvements in texture and tone over time. It contains a proprietary blend of amino-acids and high-grade vitamins with Squalane and vitamin E to supply extra cushioning The Rich Cream is unmatched if you like to keep your routine minimal as they address a variety of skin concerns acting as a one-stop cream. There really isn’t anything else like it on the market. It leaves my skin nourished and gleaming – I’m obsessed.

A good eye treatment is the Bioeffect EGF Eye Mask*. These gel patches contain plant-based EGF grown from barley (like their cult favourite serum) and humectants glycerin and hyaluronic acid. A calming and hydrating treat for the delicate eye area.

One of the greatest products of all time for me is the La Mer Moisturising Cream*. The original, classic super rich moisturiser. It really protects my barrier and prevents water loss from my skin. Great for dry air environments, being indoors a lot or when travelling. I often use this as a base prep before makeup.
