Whilst this year has taken on a skincare-first approach, there are times that I’ve been reaching for more than the sheer finish many tinted moisturisers give. Wearing the face covering with heavy layers underneath can result in makeup sliding off, transferring and the need for constant touch-ups. Instead, when I’m seeking out long-wear medium to full coverage, I’ve been reaching for these brilliant lightweight foundations that last all day.

I adore a good makeup-skincare hybrid for my base. Cle de Peau doesn’t disappoint with this beautiful formulation that cleverly balances a subtle matte finish with a radiant glow. With their own blend of skincare ingredients, it creates this smooth veil over the skin to illuminate your natural glow.
You can’t go wrong with this super hydrating, lightweight and buildable foundation. It comes out in a lovely pipette and applies beautifully with a brush or fingers. Personally, I love applying it with my fingers as it just melts into the skin and feels super comfortable. For additional long-wear and a subtle matte yet glowing finish I like to layer the Hydra-Primer underneath.
A brilliant everyday, lightweight foundation that feels like a second skin. It has a matte yet natural finish, smooths on easily and won’t be disturbed under your face covering. It’s definitely that next level up from a tinted moisturiser to feel polished with minimal effort.
Another super comfortable, buildable and lightweight foundation that applies so easily with your fingers. A creamy glycerine based formula that makes a great everyday choice to deliver a natural, flawless, supple skin finish. You’ll sense a theme with my lightweight foundation choices in that, like this Chanel one, they offer a hybrid luminous matte finish. I love this as a balance between long-wearing underneath a face covering yet shows off a natural glow. There’s also the new Les Beiges Foundation* which is the height of luminous, second skin makeup – it feels like applying a serum on the skin.
A great pick for full coverage that feels weightless on the skin. This foundation has colour-coated pigments and light refracting microspheres to deliver a smooth, soft focus finish. Overall, you get that second skin application with a gorgeous flawless finish that blurs pores like a filter.
