Lightweight Moisturisers For Hot Weather

lightweight moisturisers for hot weather

Whatever your skin type, we all tend to crave lightweight moisturisers in the summer. I have dry skin and prefer rich moisturisers like La Mer but in the hot and humid weather I’ll typically make the switch to lighter textures. In particular, I do love a gel cream! Here’s my edit of lightweight moisturisers to suit the season or, if you have oily skin, you may prefer to reach for all year around. No matter which you choose, don’t forget to pair with a good facial sunscreen.

Lightweight gel textures are my favourite creams to reach for during hot weather. This one by Dr Dennis Gross offers that fresh, weightless feel but still delivers on supple, bouncy and hydrated skin by locking in moisture with Hyaluronic Acid.

lightweight moisturisers for summer kiehl's ultra facial cream

Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Moisturiser*

The perfect pick for oilier or sensitive skins. You can’t go wrong with this lightweight lotion formulated with nourishing and protective squalane, Vitamin E and Vitamin A. Suitable for year-round wear for oilier complexions, it’s also a good choice to keep dry skin hydrated but not heavy during the summer.

lightweight moisturisers for summer charlotte tilbury magic light cream

Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream Light*

The cult classic Magic Cream reformulated as a lightweight moisturiser. A fluid-like emulsion that offers blue light and pollution protection, deeply hydrates and delivers that same brilliant skin glow you get with the original Magic Cream. If you have really dry skin and want something that’s still quite creamy, this is a super nourishing but non-heavy option to choose. Equally perfect for oilier complexions too, delivering a lightweight, dewy finish.

la mer cooling gel cream lightweight moisturisers

La Mer The Moisturising Cool Gel Cream*

When it’s really hot, my skin craves gel texture creams. I love this cooling and refreshing moisturiser from La Mer. Despite its light texture, it’s super restorative and packed with sea minerals and vitamins to deliver radiant skin.

lightweight moistursiers oil free pollution solution

Alex Steinherr x Primark Pollution Solution Oil-Free Gel Hydrator

A great oil-free moisturiser for a super lightweight and fresh feeling layer of hydration on the skin. Boosted with antioxidants and an anti-pollution complex of Acai Berry and Peach Extract, it’s perfect for a hot day in the city (and it layers well under makeup).

clarins hydra cooling gel cream

Clarins Hydra Essentiel Cooling Gel*

Another cooling gel texture moisturiser that’s great for oily/combination skin types. This just melts into the skin leaving it feeling refreshed and hydrated. It offers a subtle matte finish so you can have a radiant skin finish without excess shine. It also includes Clarins’ Anti-Pollution Complex for daily protection.

biossance probiotic gel cream

Biossance Squalane Probiotic Gel Cream*

I adore the Biossance range! This brilliant gel cream texture works really well with dry, irritated skins – especially if you’re dealing with redness. It stars plant-derived squalane and with its probiotic and botanical extracts helps balance the complexion and nourish and protect the skin’s moisture barrier.
