most loved skincare 2020

Barrier repairing serums, soothing formulations and hydrating heroes star in the edit of my most loved skincare of 2020. Between the wearing of face coverings to multiple lockdowns, these are the products that have helped calm, repair and treat my skin from my daily skincare regime to the much needed ritual of my Sunday Facial.

Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Multi-Recovery Complex*

2020 gifted us with a formulation upgrade to my holy grail, ANR. Not only is this an incredible daily serum for overall good skin health but it protects and strengthens your skin barrier and promotes a healthy, hydrated skin state. The perfect barrier repairing skincare step especially with our constant wearing of face coverings.

Shiseido Expert Sun Protector Sunscreens*

Despite most summer holidays being cancelled this year, sunscreen is still an important step even for your daily walk in the park. Shiseido’s Expert Sun Protector range has been my go-to for their hydrating yet weightless and non-sticky formulations that leaves no white cast on the skin. Using their SynchroShield™ technology, the SPF gets stronger when met with water, sweat or heat – such a clever formulation. When it’s safe to travel again, this is a hand luggage must-have!

La Roche-Posay Ultra Dermallergo Soothing Serum*

Dry, sensitised skin has been a common theme this year and this hydrating serum offers much needed relief. Formulated with neurosensine and thermal spring water, it calms and soothes the skin. Designed to treat compromised skin barriers, its lightweight formulation will also suit oilier skin types.

Vichy 89 Fortifying Recovery Mask*

Another favourite to treat sensitised skin and replenish lost moisture. The sheet mask itself is made from microalgae fibre that’s gentle on the skin. Soaked in concentrated hyaluronic acid and glycerin, it soothes, hydrates and plumps skin. It’s a #SundayFacial favourite!

Perricone MD CBD Rebalancing Elixir*

This year I’ve been testing more CBD products for both skin and body and this was a favourite. A gentle, soothing blend of high-performing ingredients including 99% pure CBD to nourish and calm the skin and an antioxidant rich blend of mushrooms. This treatment rebalances sensitive, stressed and problem skin.

La Mer The Concentrate*

Another cult classic, like ANR, that had a formulation upgrade in 2020. A brilliant skin barrier-building treatment that creates a protective layer giving your skin time to repair. Formulated with La Mer’s proprietary Lime Tea Concentrate, Miracle Broth and Sea Kelp – it’s perfect for delicate and sensitive skin and one I recommend if your skin is struggling from dryness or irritation due to wearing face coverings.

The Light Salon LED Boost Mask

I love my treatments and LED light therapy has been a consistent one in my routine. During our various lockdowns I’ve had to reach for my LED Boost Mask more so. It’s a consistent ritual in my weekly regime that I truly believe works and is worth the investment. Over time, it helps boost hydration and firmness and encourages skin healing. I’ve written an in-depth guide (+  demo) on the long-term skin and wellbeing benefits which you can read here.

Augustinus Bader Exfoliating Toner*

I’m not surprised this one is sold out and has a waiting list! It is a clever blend of gentle exfoliating acids, pollution protectants (wasabi ferment and white peony flower) and hydrating hyaluronic acid. It won’t sensitise the skin (which is key) and offers the perfect balance of treatment chemical exfoliant and hydrating essence for the ultimate skin prep.

Elizabeth Arden Hyaluronic Ceramide Capsules*

A brilliant new launch for 2020. The capsule format is not only great for (future) travel but it offers portion control so we’re not overusing skincare. The hero ingredients in these capsules work so well together. Ceramides are a barrier builder whilst hyaluronic acid offers hydration. Together, they deliver nourishment and that coveted skin barrier replenishment for firmer, plumper skin.
