This week’s Sunday Facial is a radiance boosting routine to bring brightness and clarity back to the skin. Bringing dull skin skin back to life may be as simple as reviving a little brightness and hydration. For others, like myself, it can be about the process of dealing with discolouration spots or hyperpigmentation. Either way, it’s all about balancing the right combination of actives in your routine.
Step 1: Cleanse
First a thorough, gentle cleanse. Sometimes, when our skin looks dull, it can be because there are layers of dry/dead skin cells on the skin’s surface. A good cleanse will take this layer off. I don’t use many cleansing balms but I love this Darphin Aromatic Cleansing Balm*. Perfect for a deep nourishing cleanse. The balm gives you the opportunity to massage your skin well. This loosens the muscles, your jaw and gets microcirculation going to bring that natural flush of colour back into the skin. Washing this off with a cloth or konjac sponge brings some gentle exfoliation in as well.
Step 2: Treatment
This is where we get active with our skincare layering. I’m not a fan of the original Biologique Recherche P50 but I do love this version: P50 Pigm 400. It works well with my skin – leaving it looking fresh and clear. It’s formulated with great humectants (glycerin and niacinamide) and a brilliant acid blend (lactic, mandelic, ascorbic etc.). Despite this acid blend it doesn’t feel tingly or tight on the skin and leaves me with a nice glow. You don’t rinse this off so use a cotton pad or your hands to apply.
It is so important not to go overboard with treatments/masks in an attempt to revive your skin glow. Even the right actives in the wrong amounts will not give you the results you want. Worse yet, if you overdose it can cause inflammation giving you more skin problems to deal with. As I always say, it’s about calibrating your routine to find that balance.
My Sunday mask is the Dr Lancer Radiance Awakening Mask Intense*. You can leave this on overnight but since I already have that P50 layer on, I washed this off after 10 minutes. What I love about this mask is that its combination of actives don’t overload the skin. It’s great for neturalising discolouration (not just dullness) and diffusing redness whilst calming the skin. It also has trglycerides and niacinamide to hydrate.
TIP: Remember, the basis of glowing skin is skin that is super hydrated. This skin hydration is what the light bounces off of to give that healthy, radiant glow.
Next, I use the Curel Moisture Lotion Enrich. It’s like a super hydrating essence I use to seal in my next skincare layer (which I’m most excited about).

For the last few weeks, I’ve been trialling this new serum to help with my skin discolouration. It’s the new Estee Lauder Perfectionist Pro Rapid Brightening Treatment* – the latest serum in their arsenal. You know I’m a massive fan of ANR (my forever product) so being able to use a product that’s compatible that I can apply on top of it is key. I’m loving this new serum. It has found itself a spot in my daily skincare routine. I’ll be sharing a more in-depth review and exploration around how this product works in my next post.
TIP: Remember, wearing SPF is non-negotiable when you’re using any brightening treatments. (Of course, you should be doing this anyway)!
I chose Kiehl’s Powerful-Strength Vitamin C Eye Serum* today. Vitamin C not only has skin brightening properties but also stimulates collagen which you want especially with the thin skin around your eyes.
Step 3: Hydration
You want something super hydrating and nourishing as a final layer because with actives underneath you don’t want to triple up again with more actives on top. I adore the Biossance Squalane+ Omega Repair Cream* (you know my love for squalane). It gives you skin plumpness, that dewyness and locks everything in. A beautiful combination with the new Estee Lauder Brightening Treatment.
Always, I want to amp up that skin glow through skincare, not makeup. No amount of makeup can fake the look of truly healthy, glowing skin. Yes, I do love to wear makeup and will do most days but never forget that skincare rules.
