A week of windswept hair and skin, cold chills and stormy weather has left me needing a Sunday Facial to calm down, relax and take some time out. It takes moments like these to understand that these weekly facials are more than just a beauty routine. It’s an opportunity to soothe and comfort my skin and mind. No super active formulations but to simply repair my skin from exposure to the elements. This Sunday Facial is as much about taking care of the skin as it is about soothing my mood.

Step 1: Cleanse
As usual, I reach for my makeup removal duo: Garnier Micellar Water* and La roche posay Respectissime*. To cleanse I use the Lixirskin Electrogel Cleanser*. I love how straightforward this brand and its formulations are. A streamlined range with effective ingredients. You can actually use this as a cleanser or a cream mask. Electrogel cleanses well for me without stripping the skin. Exactly what I need especially living in a pollution heavy city environment.
Step 2: Mask Treatment
I love the QMS Power Firm Mask* to comfort my windswept skin. It regulates moisture levels in the skin and repairs dehydration. (I have another Sunday Facial all about reviving dehydrated skin which features another QMS favourite).
Power Firm is about nourishment. It contains sweet almond oil, hyaluronic acid, sunflower oil, glycerin etc. A host of barrier rebuilding ingredients. We really do underestimate the importance of hydration and how healthy and beautiful it makes our skin look and feel.
Step 3: Hydration
After removing the mask I use Marie Reynolds’ Hydr8 Misting Veil. This dampens my skin to better receive the next skin step. Today it’s the Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence* from Korean brand Cosrx. This has a slightly sticky consistency being formulated with 96% snail secretion. As a very rich humectant, it stays a little on the surface of your skin which feels amazing if you’ve got super dry skin and it makes skin look dewy which I love.
It’s purely the snail secretion that is collected and used to formulate this product – no snails are harmed in the making of this. It’s cruelty-free but I can understand why it’s not for everyone.
Feeling an eye cream treat with the Omorovicza Gold Eye Lift*. This is their most luxurious range. Gold Eye Lift is packed full of hydrators, peptides and anti-inflammatories. It pretty much has everything you’d need in a good, soothing and repairing eye cream. A brilliant eye cream investment if you’re concerned with tackling expression lines on mature skin – something I get asked about often.
To moisturise I’m layering on another luxurious layer. I adore Cle De Peau’s Intensive Fortifying Cream*. It’s designed as a night cream but sometimes I layer it on under makeup when my skin is feeling super dry. It’s so rich and nourishing but cleverly formulated with a cream-gel texture so it doesn’t feel heavy and sinks in beautifully.
Finally, sealing everything in with the Biossance 100% Squalane Oil*. I adore this non-oily oil that’s safe to use around the eyes and over the lips. It also creates a beautiful slip surface for me to use my gua-sha massage tool afterwards. Squalane is one of my favourite ingredients – forever present in my routine – you can read more about it in my top 5 squalane skincare post.
