I’m always on the search for balanced treatments that support and revive the skin without being harsh. I can find actives quite challenging and I don’t subscribe to the idea of aggressive acids and overusing active formulations in your routine. So when I come across innovation, where actives deliver results without irritation and compromising of the skin barrier, I’m fully on board. The new Strivectin Super-C Retinol Brighten & Correct Vitamin C Serum is a real winner! In beauty, nothing gets me more excited than new, innovative formulations that truly work. In this serum, you are essentially getting a 2in1 combining two of the most popular skincare actives on the market – Vitamin C and Retinol.
For a bit of background, Strivectin is a huge brand in the US that has always led with science-backed, expert-grade, safe and results-driven formulations. They hero one proprietary ingredient which is at the core of every one of their products. It’s called NIA-114, an oil soluble form of Niacin which is Vitamin B3. It is different to the commonly known Niacinamide which is a water soluble Vitamin B3 derivative. NIA-114 is oil soluble (which makes it more readily available to the skin). This patented oil soluble version absorbs into the skin easier and is a brilliant skin barrier strengthener. You know I’m an advocate for protecting, strengthening and supporting your skin barrier – it’s at the heart of all my advice. So, you can see that this is one of the main reasons I’m a fan of Strivectin products.
Strivectin’s Super-C Retinol Brighten & Correct Vitamin C Serum is a rare combination of two potent actives. Why? Because together you could assume Vitamin C and Retinol would lead to skin irritation (something I’d never point you in the direction of). However, this serum harnesses the power of both actives without the skin irritation and sensitisation. How does it do this? The key is in the balance of these actives working together and the use of two water soluble versions of stabilized Vitamin C that are better tolerated by the skin. These are Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate and Ascorbyl Glucoside which work alongside the pure Vitamin C in Acerola Cherry extract. These Vitamin Cs are balanced in this formulation alongside the Retinol and NIA-114 to create a powerful, potent serum that is both safe and effective. You’re getting all the benefits from these active ingredients without the irritation, dryness, flaky skin etc.
The texture is also super lightweight and sinks into the skin almost instantly. You don’t get that tacky, heavy feel that some Vitamin C serums give. It layers well underneath moisturiser and makeup, designed and clinically tested to be used morning and night with just 1-3 drops massaged into the skin. My suggestion would be to start by using it at night if you are already dealing with skin recovering from a product overload. Then work your way up to using twice daily. And of course, you must wear sunscreen during the day! ALWAYS
The Super-C Retinol Brighten & Correct Vitamin C Serum delivers a real radiance boost to dull, lacklustre skin. Immediately, you get that fresh, healthy skin glow but over time it’s going to smooth fine lines and skin texture, brighten your complexion and bring more firmness to the skin. And the best part is, your skin will reap the benefits without irritation. This innovation from Strivectin has opened my mind to what’s possible with retinoids and combining potent active ingredients – I’m truly impressed.
