Sunday Facial to Wake Up Dull Skin

skincare for dull tired skin sunday facial alessandra steinherr

This week, I’m really in need of a refreshing, pampering Sunday Facial. Skincare for dull, tired skin that hasn’t been well rested. Starting with a gentle double cleansing using the Drunk Elephant E-rase Milki Micellar Water*. There’s nothing new about milky micellar waters but I do really like this one with its blend of ceramides and fatty acids which respect and support the skin barrier. I use this with a reusable cotton pad. It has quite a dense texture but feels fresh and conditioning on the skin.

You don’t have to rinse-off but today I feel the need for a double cleanse to really wake up and refresh my skin. I love a good rinse-off cleanser in the summer. I’m using the new Augustinus Bader The Cream Cleansing Gel* which is packed with vitamins, amino acids and soothing aloe. A clever, well formulated cleanser with actives that get to work on the skin as you use it even though it washes off. Low foaming, no distinct scent and gentle leaving skin feeling fresh but not tight.

One of my emergency SOS go-tos to revive the skin is the Omorovicza Blue Diamond Resurfacing Peel* – absolutely love this pretty sparkly blue. It is a blend of gentle AHAs (lactic acid, lactobionic acid) and enzymes to create a beautiful polishing peel that refreshes the skin. It takes away dullness and brightens the skin. A great choice if you’re new to peels or require something gentler. You can apply this on damp skin and wash off right away.

For today’s mask I’m using the Darphin Hydraskin Cooling Hydrating Gel Mask*. It has this gel-jelly texture that feels great on summer skin – purely designed for cooling and hydrating the skin. After 10 minutes I’ll remove this with either a Konjac sponge or towel.

I love Dior Skin Capture Totale – it’s an excellent range and the new High Performance Treatment Serum Lotion* is their most high-tech skin offering yet. It’s all about skin repair, protection, restoration and keeping it fresh. The serum lotion is essentially an essence that I’ll pat into my skin for plump hydrated skin. Highly recommend exploring this innovative range.

Whilst my skin is still tacky from the Dior Serum Lotion, I’ll apply the Chantecaille Blue Light Protection Hyaluronic Serum*. Hyaluronic acid is one of those essential ingredients for skin hydration. What interests me most about this serum though is the blue light protection technology that I expect we’ll see more of in products as our lifestyles have us constantly exposed to more screens and blue light.

For eye cream I’m using a new product from Laura Mercier. Whilst known primarily for their flawless makeup ranges, I’m enjoying this Illuminating Eye Cream*. It has an instant brightening effect making it perfect for low/no makeup days. To complete this skin reviving sunday facial I’m finishing off with a layer of the Dr Barbara Sturm Face Cream*. I reach for this whenever I need a good, reliable moisturiser that’s not going to irritate my skin and will offer deep, comforting nourishment. Always a go-to for me packed with lipids, antioxidants and has a light texture.
